David Budres began his racing career at age 12 behind the wheel of a go-kart. His racing career was sparked by a huge interest invested in him by his father and all of the races he attended while growing up. It was all he ever knew, and all he has ever dreamed of doing. Now, he is making his dream come to life and is advancing his racing career to a higher level.

David made his first starts in 1997 driving for Manic Racing, a racing and auto repair business owned by his father, in a go-kart at Sugar River Raceway in Brodhead, Wis.  Along with Sugar River Raceway, Budres raced at Thunder Valley Raceway in Pearl City, Ill., Lake Geneva Raceway in Lake Geneva, Wis., and many other paved and dirt ovals in the Midwest. Throughout his years of go-kart racing, David has gained very valuable experience by winning many feature races and also a points championship in 2003 at Thunder Valley Raceway.

In 2004, David began his midget career with the UMARA Sportsmen Midgets. Despite missing one race that season,  Budres finished 11th in points and won rookie of the year.

David's 2005 racing season brought new challenges and experiences. He learned
more about the car and also gained racing strategies that will prove crucial in the future. Still, the season was decorated with two wins, nine top five and 12 top ten finishes, along with a final fifth place standing in points.

In 2006 Budres had his best season yet in the UMARA division. Even though it wasn't filled with feature wins, David came extremely close to winning the points
championship and was more consistent than ever. He won one feature
race, set two fast times in qualifying, scored 10 top five and 13 top ten finishes, and placed third in the point standings. He also won a record-setting seven heat
races.

In 2007, David and Manic Racing moved on to the Badger Midget Auto Racing Association (BMARA) division, racing a 2003 Stealth midget.  He also ran selected Illini Racing Series winning their inaugural event at Angell Park Speedway.

David's goal for this season is simply to win races. With that goal well within his reach, and his ultimate goal of a points championship, look for the #31 at the front of the field. David's future in racing holds endless opportunities and he plans on winning races and championships for the rest of his life.

About the Racing Series

The Badger Midget Auto Racing Association, or BMARA, has been an important part of developing midget auto racing in the United States since 1936. BMARA has been hosting weekly Sunday night midget auto races since 1946 at the Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis. The track is a unique one-third mile, semi-banked clay oval has never hosted anything but a midget auto race. Recently, the average turnout attendance for these races is just over 3,000 spectators every Sunday night.

The United States Auto Club, or USAC, midget series has been dated back to the 1930's as well,. The main idea behind a USAC midget is to pair up the smallest framed car with the greatest amount of horsepower to create a wild and proven exciting show. Quick reflexes and adaptations to a variety of tracks help build a driver's experience and talent, along with creating some great entertainment. USAC Midget racing has been known to help develop and produce some of the top drivers of today, including Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman, AJ Foyt, Mario Andretti, and many, many more.
